New Permanent Drum Motor Identification

All Axis drum motors are now being marked during production with the fiber laser process to ensure specifications are visible throughout the life of the drum motor. This includes serial numbers, oil quantities and motor specifications. The indelible laser marking process also increases hygiene and eliminates the need for stickers and labels and eliminating a potential source of contamination.

Ultra Long RL89 Offers New Possibilities in Handling

This custom Axis RL89 roller was produced for a recycling application. The customer required an very slow RPM so this unit was supplied at 216:1 reduction with a speed of 3.6m/minute. This ultra long roller which has a facewidth of over 2000mm also has a stainless steel drumshell and specifically machinined aluminium end housings.

The Axis TM113 Drum motor can be produced in an ultra short design of 260mm in roller face width. This allows you to utilise the drum motor advantages of compact, space saving design on even narrower belt widths. In this very narrow width motors up to 0.37kw can be used offering a full range of speeds from 0.09 up to 3.47m/second.

New TM113.1G Drum Motor Solves Guided Belt Problems

Southquip Industrial is pleased to release the Axis TM113.1G drum motor variant to the market. At the request of our clients a solution was required for providing an economic solution to drive belts with vee guide tracking profiles. By redesigning our TM113 drum motor we have incorporated K17 Vee Grooves into the endhousings. This also allows double bearing reinforcement for high load resistance. Guided belts are commonly used in applications where lateral forces affect belt guidance or conveyor straightness can’t be guaranteed. Previously the lagging of the drum motor was required to achieve a similar result. With the new TM113.1G design there is no heat dissipation issues as the drum shell is in constant contact with the belt.

Electroplated Drumshells Reduce Corrosion

When looking for an economic conveyor drive solution for many applications mild steel/aluminium construction drum motors are suitable. If you require additional corrosion protection we can offer the option of electroplating of a mild steel drum shell to protect from rust and corrosion. Situations where this is beneficial is where water and humidity is present but sanitation isn’t critical. Also on conveyors which may sit idle during seasonal work stops the drumshell developing surface rust.
