This custom Axis RL89 roller was produced for a recycling application. The customer required an very slow RPM so this unit was supplied at 216:1 reduction with a speed of 3.6m/minute. This ultra long roller which has a facewidth of over 2000mm also has a stainless steel drumshell and specifically machinined aluminium end housings.

New TM113.1G Drum Motor Solves Guided Belt Problems

Southquip Industrial is pleased to release the Axis TM113.1G drum motor variant to the market. At the request of our clients a solution was required for providing an economic solution to drive belts with vee guide tracking profiles. By redesigning our TM113 drum motor we have incorporated K17 Vee Grooves into the endhousings. This also allows double bearing reinforcement for high load resistance. Guided belts are commonly used in applications where lateral forces affect belt guidance or conveyor straightness can’t be guaranteed. Previously the lagging of the drum motor was required to achieve a similar result. With the new TM113.1G design there is no heat dissipation issues as the drum shell is in constant contact with the belt.

Seafood Modular Belt Conveyors require a Hygienic, Compact Drive Solution

These Axis drum motors were produced to meet the requirements of the seafood processing industry. The use of the Axis TM113.1 series drum motors in stainless steel design allowed the engineering company client to produce conveyors of excellent aesthetics, using a centre drive system. The drum motors were supplied with a 8×7 keyway fixed to the drumshell so stainless steel sprockets could be fitted for driving a flush grid modular belt. A stainless steel terminal box allowed easy installation and access to electrical connections. All lubricants used within the units are food safe and registered with the non foods program for possible food contact. The ingress protection rating of the units is IP66 for wash down compatibility.

When a New Zealand OEM manufacturer was looking for a solution for conveying 25Kg bags of milk powder up an incline conveyor, reliability, efficiency, low maintenance and backup support was foremost in the Drum Motor specification. Considering the installation was in South East Asia in a critical handling area of a milk powder plant the Axis TM113 in full stainless steel design was the ideal solution. Four TM113.1 drum motors were delivered according to zone 22 ATEX explosion proof rating and four further units in standard design.
